14 -15 October 2014 SHIFT-X Final Conference @ C-mine Genk, Belgium

14 -15.10.2014: THE DATE

Genk, Belgium

 @ C-mine

Former industries leave behind a profound cultural heritage that determines future development options.
But how can we take advantage of these assets? What actions have to be taken to optimally employ
industrial heritage in the economic and social transition of old-industrial regions?
Are we shifting from industrial heritage to heritage industries.

On OCTOBER 15 in C-Mine, Barenzaal, GENK the SHIFT-X project held its final conference where we managed to gather together the experts on the cultural and industrial heritage. It was pleasure to see the spark getting on again in the debate and come back home with the roadmap of actions retouched again.

The presentations and the on-line conference version are coming soon.

These aspects will be discussed in keynote lectures, high level podium discussions, interactive breakout and poster sessions, and fringe activities. Redevelopment, innovation in traditional branches and improving the attractiveness of a region (creative economy, industrial heritage tourism) are the key topics of the event.

The participants will be inspired by best practice examples in Europe.

The homecoming of the SHIFT-X exhibition container will be celebrated as well.

This gallery container will hold an impressive collection of camera obscura photographs taken by artists and inhabitants/visitors of redeveloped industrial regions in Europe.
